About Me

I’m Paula, and I’m a qualified 1-2-1 therapist. I work to support people with navigating the challenges that impact mental health.

Mental health issues can manifest in many different ways. There are times when life feels like a constant battle, as stress, anxiety and depression keep us locked into patterns of behaviour or relating that can become distressing.

From a general feeling of ‘not being okay’, to anger, anxiety and depression, self-harm, loss of confidence and self-esteem, relationship issues, panic attacks and more.

My experience spans working with clients with a range of issues, such as those arising from trauma; childhood sexual abuse; domestic abuse; bereavement, grief and loss; neurodivergence; identity; relationship breakdown; workplace stress; menopause and life stage changes. There are any number of reasons why someone might choose to walk through the door for the first time and start their therapy journey.

My qualifications in integrative therapeutic counselling underpin my theoretical approach and my relational warmth is what you’ll experience in the room. I combine person-centred counselling (PCA) with elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and transactional analysis (TA), working in a manner that best suits your needs.

Person-centred counselling is a hopeful form of therapy – your potential for growth is within your grasp. The challenges of life can sometimes cloud the way ahead, making the path unclear. That stuckness is what we work through in therapy.

People often enter therapy in a state of emotional turmoil; different parts are in conflict, literally battling for dominance. Through therapy, we work on this conflict, building understanding and acceptance, embracing our whole self.

Your wellbeing sits at the centre of my practice. My job is to be there with you while you decide which route to take. You choose the pace and we co-create the conditions that enable you to do the emotional work necessary to move forward.

My professional insurance covers me to work face-to-face from my Maids Moreton therapy room as well as to offer walk and talk therapy. I  do not currently offer teletherapy (online and telephone sessions) but I am happy to discuss options for asynchronous (email / text) therapy.

Accessing therapy can feel like its own challenge – sending that first enquiry, or stepping into the room for the first time can feel like a tremendous hurdle to overcome. But, as hard as it might be to consider doing the emotional work, by taking this first step you’ve already begun…

I’ll be right there, holding the space for you.
