About Me

I’m Paula, and I’m a 1-2-1 therapeutic counselling practitioner working with adults and young people navigating the challenges that impact mental health.

I am experienced in working with issues such as those arising from trauma; childhood sexual abuse; domestic abuse; bereavement, grief and loss; and neurodivergence. These issues might manifest as anxiety and depression, self-harm, lack of confidence and self-esteem, anger, relationship issues, panic attacks and a general feeling of ‘not being okay’.

I combine person-centred counselling (PCA) with elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and transactional analysis (TA) into my practice, working in a manner that best suits your needs.

Person-centred counselling is a hopeful form of therapy – your potential for growth is within your grasp, but life experiences can sometimes cloud the way ahead, making the path unclear.

I work at all times with your wellbeing at the centre of my practice. My job is to be there with you while you decide which route to take. You choose the pace and together we form a therapeutic relationship within which you have the space to do the emotional work necessary to move forward.

I work face-to-face from my Maids Moreton therapy room. I can also deliver teletherapy (online and telephone sessions); and am happy to discuss options for asynchronous (email / text) therapy.

There are times when life feels like a constant battle, as stress, anxiety and depression keep us locked into patterns of behaviour or relating that can become distressing.

Often, we enter therapy in a state of emotional turmoil; different parts of ourselves are in conflict, literally battling for dominance. Through therapy, we work on this conflict, building our understanding and acceptance of our whole self.

Accessing therapy is not without its own challenges – sending that first email or answering the phone can feel like a tremendous battle. But, as hard as it might be to consider doing the emotional work, by taking this first step you’ve already begun…

I’ll be right there, holding the space for you.
